Eat, Learn, Live.
Did you know 3,000 lbs. of food is wasted every second in America and 3,000 lbs. would feed 650 Americans for an entire day? The Dining Advisory Board introduces their Project Clean Plate campaign to reduce waste.
Beginning March 4, and running until April 15, every Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. the Dining Advisory Board and fellow volunteer students will be standing by to direct students to separate the organic waste from the inorganic waste as part of the Project Clean Plate campaign.
The Dining Advisory Board, comprised of students and faculty members, nurtures a positive relationship between the Pace Community and its dining service Chartwells, and helps to ensure quality and continuously improved services. Dining Advisory Board co-chairs Jasmine Mandamiento and Khin Phyu have developed this campaign (under the direction of Chartwells) to showcase to the students the amount of food that is being wasted.
“It has always been important to me, and I think it’s safe to say for Khin, that we’ve exploded with this insatiable consumption attitude. We take and take without regards to negative effects our actions can have,” says Mandamiento. “When Khin and I were approached to develop a campaign to raise awareness of the food waste issue, we both readily began to plan away. It’s important for us to take care of the Earth as it is our only home, and supports all kinds of life.”
Now it’s your turn to help Pace in its efforts to reduce the generation of waste and help preserve the planet. For more information and to get involved, visit https://www.facebook.com/PaceEats.
