A Nobel Discussion
Three-time Nobel Peace Prize nominated peace activist Kathy Kelly will present a series of discussions on both campuses as CCAR Activist in Residence.
The Center for Community Action and Research is proud to present the Periclean Activist-in-Residence Kathy Kelly, an award-winning peace activist.
Kelly, who has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize three times since 2000, is co-founder of Voices in the Wilderness, a campaign to end economic sanctions against Iraq. She has also been arrested several times for her activism, once sentenced to nine months in federal prison for planting corn in the soil above nuclear missile silos, a symbolic act intended to demonstrate the peaceful use of land.
Kelly will present a series of discussions on both campuses: First, on Monday, December 2, she will speak at 6:30 p.m. in the Gottesman Room in PLV. Kelly will also host a discussion on Tuesday, December 3, from 3:25 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in W613 in NYC and an RSVP-only Activist Skills Workshop in Meeting Room A from 1:35 p.m. until 2:35 p.m. RSVP to email@example.com.
About the Periclean Activist-in-Residence: This individual over the course of his/her life's work demonstrates the ideals of Project Pericles, a national initiative to promote social responsibility and participatory citizenship as essential elements of our educational programs, in which Pace is a member.
