Pace Students Step Up
On December 15, Pace Commercial Dance students will show off the fancy footwork they’ve learned this semester on the Schimmel stage in DanceSpace.
Prepare to be floored as Pace Commercial Dance students and choreographers showcase their passion, creativity, and masterful moves on the Schimmel stage as they present DanceSpace on December 15 at 12:00 p.m.
This year’s show will feature commercial dance majors and numerous guest artist pieces, including choreography by Chase Brock that is a re-staging of choreography he created for Spider-Man the Musical on Broadway, which will be the first time this piece is performed by anyone besides the Broadway cast.
Additional highlights include Tony Award-winning choreographer of In the Heights, director and choreographer of Bring It On the Musical, and choreographer of the 2012 revival of Annie Andy Blankenbuehler, who set a new piece of Kate Nash music that he is workshopping to go to Broadway on students; Emmy-nominated choreographer Gregg Russell’s hip hop routine performed by students; and Pace Commercial Dance Professor Jonathan Riedel’s re-staging of a piece of repertory based on the children’s stories of Edward Gorey from his company Riedel Dance Theater.
There will also be new works from current faculty members in the Commercial Dance program including Rhonda Miller, director of the Commercial Dance program, Lauren Gaul, who spent 10 years as a Radio City Rockette, Jess Hendricks, Scott Jovovich, and Chloe Arnold.
