The Human Resources’ Employee Relations Department is preparing for the annual Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work® Day. This year’s event is scheduled for Thursday, May 2, 2013 on both the New York City and Westchester campuses.
Designed to be more than a career day, the Take our Daughters and Sons to Work® program goes beyond the average practice of “shadowing” an adult. Exposing girls and boys to what a parent or mentor in their lives does at work is important, but showing them the value of their education, helping them discover the power and possibilities associated with a balanced work and family life, and allowing them to begin steps toward their end goals in a hands-on and interactive environment is key to their achieving success.
In an effort to plan the day’s activities, we are reaching out to departments within the Pace community to inquire if there is anyone who would like to organize a 30-45 minute activity for the children that echoes these themes.
Last year, activities included a kick-off breakfast with Human Resources, a tour of the Environmental Center, a visit to the Counseling Center, engaging activities with the Co-op and Career Services Department, an informative visit to the Lienhard School of Nursing, a fascinating robotic demonstration with the Seidenberg School of CSIS, and a fun-filled visit to the Athletic Center. The children had a great time!
