Education: Professor Sonenberg holds the following degrees: PhD from Columbia University, New York, NY; MS (Nursing) from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C.; BS (Nursing) Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY; BA (Biology/Neurobiology and Behavior) from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY.          

Areas of Expertise: Nurse-Midwifery and Women’s Health Advanced Nursing Practice
                                                                                                             
Current Area of Research: Health policy related to the regulation of advanced nursing practice; global regulation and utilization of advanced practice nurses for the expansion of access to care to vulnerable populations.
 
Professional Experience:  Professor Sonenberg joined the Lienhard School of Nursing, Pace University in 2008, as an Assistant Professor.  She  has taught Essentials of Professional Nursing, Fundamentals of Nursing Practice, Professional and Therapeutic Communication, Women’s Health/Maternal & Newborn Nursing in the Undergraduate Program.  In her current position as Associate Professor in the Graduate Program, she has taught Advanced Physical Assessment (including the Prenatal Care module); Advanced Nursing in Primary Health Care (the graduate core signature course that she was instrumental in developing); Advanced Clinical Management (Women’s Health Module); and Health Policy in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program. Dr. Sonenberg also developed the Global Health Concentration curriculum for the new Bachelor of Science in Health Science degree.  From 2010-2011, she provided clinical services as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner in the University Health Care Unit.  She serves on the Fulbright Committee, the Faculty-Student Research Committee, the Writing Center Advisory Board, and the Sexual Misconduct Committee.
