How to Enter the Pitch Contest

Greetings from the Pace Pitch Contest!

The first step for entrants is to register with the online form. The Selection Committee will consider all registrants and narrow the field down to twelve contestants and four alternates. After you have registered, you must send a 50 - 250 word description of your New Business Concept or Social Venture to by Monday, November 14th to be considered by the Selection Committee. You may also include up to 5 PowerPoint® slides. The names of the final contestants and alternates will be announced on November 21st.

All of the 50 - 250 word pitch descriptions received by the deadline are forwarded to the Selection Committee without the applicant's name. Members of the Selection Committee are:

  • Dr. Branko Bucar, Assistant Professor of Management, Pace University
  • Dr. Alan B. Eisner, Associate Professor of Management, Pace University
  • Dr. Victor Goldsmith, Executive Director, Second Century Innovation and Ideas Corp.
  • Rob Johnston, Executive Director, The Wilson Center for Social Entrepreneurship
  • Nicholas Schiavo, Manager, Bisys Inc. (and Alumni Advisor - Class of 1984)
Guidelines for contestants:

Compete in two categories

New Business Concepts
Judged on commercial viability by a panel of bankers and venture capitalists.

Social Ventures
Judged on social benefit and likely ability to create an economically sustainable venture by a panel of scholars and philanthropists.

Basic rules
Each individual/team will have 3 minutes to make their pitch and may use up to 5 PowerPoint® slides. The pitch must be an original concept, created by the presenter(s). The contest is open to all members of the Pace community, as well as the general public. Each individual/team may only submit a single entry in one of the two categories.
