Graduate Award Recipient Profiles

OUTSTANDING STUDENT OF THE YEAR - WESTCHESTER
John C. Horn received his bachelor's degree in history from Yale University. Currently he works as a Brand Team Leader at Daymon Worldwide Design in Stamford, Connecticut. He leads six account managers on three teams and has profit and loss responsibility for $5 million in revenue. He is responsible for the development and presentation of new strategic brand initiatives for accounts. Recent examples include an Organics line of 170 products, a line of healthy children's foods, and the re-branding and re-design of a health and beauty care line.

When not at work, he is a member of the Mount Pleasant Historical Society, a member of the Empire State Railway Museum and Volunteer Docent for the Stepping Stones Foundation and their preservation of a Bedford Hills historic home.

OUTSTANDING STUDENT OF THE YEAR - NEW YORK CITY
Fatime Ardolic graduated with a joint BBA/MBA degree in public accounting. Because of her outstanding academic skills, she received the Presidential Scholarship, a Graduate Merit Scholarship, The Thomas Shortman Fund Graduate Scholarship, and she was Dr. Dan Tinkelmans' Graduate Research Assistant for 2 years. Fatime is a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society and was a member of the team that took first place at the 2006 Beta Alpha Psi Regional Best Practices Competition. She also has had first honors on the Dean's List and was a member of the Pforzheimers Honors College and the Lubin Leaders and Scholars Program.

She participated in the 2005-2006 NY State Society of CPA's Semi Annual Career Day for High School Students. She facilitated the 'College Life' segment of 3 consecutive Career Days. In a Financial Literacy Event, she also taught high school students the importance of savings and bank accounts and maintaining a good credit history.

In addition to her superior academic skills, she has also been a student Lubin counted on for help in many ways, including as a member of the highly regarded student panel for the AACSB Accounting Accreditation Review. She also received the Alumni Association Award.

LUBIN ALUMNI ASSOCIATION AWARD (GRADUATE), GRADUATE NEW YORK CITY
Fatime Ardolic has been a member of Beta Alpha Psi since 2005 and as the Director, led the site Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program in completing over 800 returns for low-income individuals and families over the past two years. She was a member of the Lubin Spring Banquet Planning Committee, a panelist at the 2006 Accepted Students Day, and a Pace Open House representative for Beta Alpha Psi and the Honors College.

At the 2005 and 2006 Junior Recognition Ceremonies, she represented Beta Alpha Psi and in 2006 was the Student Representative at the Leaders in Management Dinner. Also in 2006, she participated in the IRS Special Agent for a Day program and was involved in the KPMG Intern Community Service Day and the Beta Alpha Psi Community Service Day.

Fatime has accepted a position as Audit Associate with KPMG, where she was also an intern.

LUBIN ALUMNI ASSOCIATION AWARD (GRADUATE), GRADUATE WESTCHESTER
Rahul Bhasin received his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and an MS in Electrical Engineering from Purdue. He was a part of the Pace NYSSA Investment Research competition team in 2007 and a member of the winning team at the Pace Equity Research Competition in 2006. Currently, he is a team leader at IBM supply-chain operations where he handles the PS3 (Sony Playstation) account. Prior to SONY, he worked on the Apple account for IBM. Outside of work and school, he has been involved in forming an organization whose goal is to provide the means for underprivileged students in India to get a good education.

GRADUATE LEADERSHIP AWARD
Siddhartha Bhattacharya came to the United States and Pace in 2001 for his MS degree in Information Systems. After receiving that degree, he returned to India where he started his own exports firm, specializing in petrochemical products and other engineering equipment. Wanting to explore opportunities in corporate America, he came back to Pace for a graduate degree in business. In the spring of 2005, while studying for his MBA in Financial Management, he was elected president of the Lubin Graduate Society. In that position, he worked with members of the Society to create a highly motivated group of students who built an environment where graduate students could network, socialize and enhance their business school experience.

They held social nights at local venues and pizza nights on campus where faculty and students came together at both social and professional levels. Sid was also successful in starting the first LGS professional fund raising event by organizing a Financial Modeling Workshop which was taught by Dr. Jack Yurkiewicz.

Beyond these tangibles, Sid was a link between students, faculty and the Lubin Administration. Many people are given the title of leader, but being a leader is a part of who Sid is. He is valued and respected for his dynamic interpersonal skills.

DOCTORAL PROGRAM AWARD, NEW YORK CITY
Dr. Bernard Schumacher works as an Assistant Professor of Business Administration at Post University in Connecticut and was an Adjunct Professor at Pace from 2002-2003. He earned his MBA in Finance at George Washington University and is a Certified Financial Analyst. He successfully defended his dissertation entitled “Organizational Response to Exogenous Environmental Shocks: The Role of Professional Associations in the Theorization and Adoption of Professional Standards of Practice” and graduated in 2006. Currently, Dr. Schumacher's teaching interests are in the subject areas of Business Policy and Strategy, Organizational Theory, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Strategy and Corporate Finance. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Stamford, Connecticut CFA Society and is a member of the Academy of Management and the Academy of International Business. In August of 2007, Dr. Schumacher will present a paper at the Academy of Management Annual Conference.

MBA AWARD IN ACCOUNTING, NEW YORK CITY
Aubrey Giffen received her Bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University in Biology. She is the Pledge Mistress for Phi Chi Theta and a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon in addition to her induction into Beta Gamma Sigma this evening. Aubrey did internships at Labranche and Co. and Quadriserv Inc., which she obtained through the Office of Co-op and Career Services. She has accepted a full-time audit position at Ernst and Young.

MBA AWARD IN ACCOUNTING, WESTCHESTER
Patrice Lordi earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Iona College. She worked as an intern for Ernst and Young in the summer of 2006 in their Assurance Division - Financial Services in their Stamford Connecticut office. She obtained this position through the office of Co-op and Career Services and it led to a full time offer from the company which Patrice will begin in the fall. She is most proud of the time she has spent raising her children, Joseph and Lizzie.

MBA AWARD IN EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT, NEW YORK CITY
Kori Lambert received her undergraduate degree in Russian Studies from Eckard College in St. Petersburg, Florida and her Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from Sacred Heart University prior to receiving her Executive MBA from Pace this past January. She was a software engineer and quality assurance manager at SER Solutions where she was one half the development team for SERTAINTY, a speech analytics tool which enables text searching of voice recordings. In addition, her name is on three patents.

She was recently recruited by a fellow Pace student to join UBS Investment Bank. She is currently Microsoft Services Regional Manager for the US at UBS. She is very proud of her achievements and of her transition from liberal arts student to software engineer to global technical management.

MBA AWARD IN FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT, NEW YORK CITY
John Becker earned his undergraduate degree at Hofstra University in Computer Science. He works full time at Barclays Capital where he was recently promoted to Associate Director. John is an Oracle Certified Professional and manages a 4-person team providing technical support to Barclay's e-commerce trading platforms.

MBA AWARD IN FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT, NEW YORK CITY
Aminata Ndiaye is a part of the joint degree program with our partner school ESC Rouen, in Rouen, France. Since fall 2006 she has been a graduate assistant for the Center for International Business and the Marketing department. She is also a member of the African Students at Pace Association. She has interned at VICAT headquarters in Paris, Ernst and Young, Paris, and CGF Bourse, Dakar Senegal. She is a member of the French Humanitarian Association, ESC Rouen Sans Frontières, which sends school supplies to Cambodia and Senegal.

MBA AWARD IN FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT, WESTCHESTER
Jonathan Reiss attended Rutgers College as an undergraduate where he received his BS degree in Accounting. He obtained his CPA license in New Jersey. When he started his MBA program, he worked for Swiss Re, a re-insurer and financial services group. He changed jobs in January of 2006 and now works for MBIA as Vice President of Corporate Financial Reporting. He is responsible for both external financial reporting with the SEC and internal financial reporting.

MBA AWARD IN INFORMATIONS SYSTEMS, WESTCHESTER
Debra Bahr graduated with a BS in Computer Science from Rutgers University, Douglass College. She is currently Director of Program Assurance for a software developer in midtown Manhattan. She has been with the company for 22 years and plans to stay with her employer after her graduation from Lubin.

MBA AWARD IN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS, NEW YORK CITY
Antonia Gentile graduated with her BBA in Accounting from Lubin and currently works as an administrator at Pace. She would like to thank Jeannine Arrigo and Professor Alan Rabinowitz for their mentorship throughout her studies. Also, she is grateful for the knowledge she gained in classes taught by Dr. Stephen Blank, Dr. Robert Vambery, and Dr. Roy Girasa.

MBA AWARD IN INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS, NEW YORK CITY
Thomas Breen received his bachelor's degree in Banking and Finance from Hofstra University. He is a Staff Coordinator at the Federal Reserve Bank of NY and is proud that he was able to juggle working full time with his studies at Lubin. Thomas believes that his degree will enhance his professional experience by providing him with a better understanding of monetary policy issues.

MBA AWARD IN MANAGEMENT, WESTCHESTER
Stephen J. Murphy received his BS degree in Accounting from Fairfield University. He was working full-time in the Financial Planning and Analysis Group of Sara Lee, Coffee and Tea when he began his graduate studies at Pace. A year into the program, he accepted an opportunity at DIAGEO PLC in Norwalk, Ct. in the decision support area of finance. He is currently a senior Financial Analyst in the area of consolidation at DIAGEO.

MBA AWARD IN MARKETING MANAGEMENT, NEW YORK CITY
Laurence Dehaemers graduated with a BA degree in Journalism and Communication from the Free University of Brussels, Belgium. She was a junior advisor to the Belgian Federal Government from 2001 to 2003, and in 2003 joined Taurius Congo as the quality, health, safety and environment manager. While at Pace, she started to design the annual marketing plan for Taurius Congo. She is still working there, as Marketing Manager.

MBA AWARD IN MARKETING MANAGEMENT, WESTCHESTER
Eric Fensterstock graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree from Harvard University in Sanskrit and Indian Studies and went on to complete his Master of Arts in Communication Arts at New York Institute of Technology before coming to Pace to pursue his MBA in Marketing Management and Financial Management. He is currently Account Director, working in the field of internet marketing at Murphy and Co.

MS AWARD IN ACCOUNTING, NEW YORK CITY
Janine Castro earned her BS degree in Business Administration from American University. She has worked full-time at Time Inc. (the magazine division of Time Warner) for the past 5 years, as a financial analyst at InStyle Magazine and also in the corporate finance division. She is currently working as an Assistant Finance Manager at the Parenting Group.

Janine worked full-time while pursuing her master's degree in Public Accounting part-time. She has accepted a full-time position with Pricewaterhouse Coopers as an associate in their assurance practice and will start this summer. She obtained the job through Pace's Experience e-Recruiting Network.

MS AWARD IN INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT, NEW YORK CITY
Sanjay Khindri earned his BBA from the University of Delaware in Finance. He is a CFA Level 2 candidate for this June. He worked for the Vanguard Group as a Client Relations Associate and at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network as a corporate accounting intern. Sanjay is a tennis enthusiast and has won matches at the ITA East Regional Tournament. He has chosen not to start working after he completes his degree, but will rather study quantitative finance for the next year at Villanova University.

MS AWARD IN TAXATION, NEW YORK CITY
Jiwei Yuan earned her undergraduate degree in accounting from NYU's Stern School of Business. She started her career as a Payroll/Accounting Intern at the New York Times Company. From there she moved to Deloitte Tax LLP as a Tax Senior in the Real Estate Tax Services Division. Currently she is Vice President at W.P. Carey and Co., LLC, where she is in charge of the company's foreign and domestic investment tax planning and compliance.
