5K Fun Runs
This September, lace up your shoes and join the Pace Community in some 5K fun—Food Bank for Westchester’s Miles for Meals 5K on September 9 on the PLV Campus and the NYC Race for the Cure on September 10 in Central Park.
Miles for Meals
Fact: Did you know that 1 in 5 people in Westchester County are struggling with food insecurity? Or that 22% of them are seniors over the age of 60 and 33% are children 18 and under?
What can you do? Join the movement to end hunger as the Food Bank for Westchester hosts its first Hunger Action Month Miles for Meals 5K Fun Run on Saturday, September 9, right on Pace’s Pleasantville Campus.
Check-in: 8:30 a.m.–9:30 a.m.
Race time: 9:30 a.m.–11:00 a.m.
Sign up before August 21 and pay no sign-up fee—just commit to fundraising at least $35. Participants who raise at least $100 will get a Fun Run t-shirt and those who raise $250+ will get a Fun Run t-shirt and swag bag of goodies.
Race for the Cure
Fact: In 2017, it is estimated that there will be 252,710 new cases of invasive breast cancer and 40,610 breast cancer deaths among US women alone. For men, it’s estimated that there will be 2,470 new cases and 460 deaths.
What can you do? On Sunday, September 10, step out with the Pace Community as we run for life at the 27th annual Susan G. Komen Greater NYC: Race for the Cure in Central Park. Breast cancer is hard. This is a walk in the park.
Last year, with more than 100 participants, Pace University once again fielded the largest team from a university or college. And we want to keep this streak going! So what are you waiting for? Register by visiting the direct registration page, or by going to www.komennyc.org/race and searching for the “Pace University” team.
Participants will receive a t-shirt, goody bag, free breakfast, and transportation from PLV to Central Park (buses leave at 7:20 a.m.) For more information or questions about Pace's team, contact Rachael Casasanta at firstname.lastname@example.org or Christina Taranto at email@example.com. The team continues under the guidance of Professor Emeritus Ellen Mandel, PhD.
Can’t make the race? Back by popular demand—Sleep for the Cure! Register for the race and then spend your Sunday morning sleeping in.
