Inside News! (NYC)
He won an Emmy, was nominated for a Tony and multiple Golden Globes, has six albums and 400 songs to his credit, and he’s not dumb but has played the part. Oh, and he’s the next Inside the Actors Studio seminar guest this month.
News Night Inside the Actors Studio with Will McAvoy Jeff Daniels.
On Tuesday, November 24, at 7:00 p.m. Emmy Award-winning actor, musician, and playwright Jeff Daniels sits down with James Lipton at Pace’s Schimmel Center on the NYC Campus.
You may know him from the most honest three and a half minutes of television, EVER…, the opening scene of the HBO hit series The Newsroom; or maybe you saw him opposite James Gandolfini in God of Carnage on Broadway; or maybe, just maybe, it was as Harry Dunne in the Dumb and Dumber series.
It’s no surprise that Jeff Daniels has become one of Hollywood's most reliable and versatile actors with roles in successes such as Terms of Endearment; Woody Allen’s The Purple Rose of Cairo; Dumb and Dumber; The Hours; Good Night, and Good Luck; and The Squid and the Whale, to name a few. For his work, Daniels has received four Golden Globe Award nominations. Recently, he starred as Will McAvoy in Aaron Sorkin's HBO television series The Newsroom, for which he won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. In 2015, Daniels can be seen in Steve Jobs and The Martian, which stars Matt Damon and has grossed nearly half a billion dollars at the box office.
Daniels is also active in the theater world, founding a nonprofit theater company in his home state of Michigan, the Purple Rose Theatre Company, for which he has written 15 plays. Daniels has also performed in a number of stage productions, both on and off Broadway, and was nominated for the Tony Award as Best Actor for the Broadway play God of Carnage.
