Interim Provost: Nira Herrmann
Please join us in congratulating Nira Herrmann, PhD, dean of the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences, on her new appointment as interim provost!
Pace University is proud to announce the appointment of Dean Nira Herrmann, PhD, as Interim Provost, effective July 1, 2017.
A longtime champion of Pace students and faculty, Herrmann joined the University in 2004 as Dean of Dyson College of Arts and Sciences. Under her leadership, Dyson College has advanced in several strategic areas, including enrollment, which increased by 32 percent between 2004 and 2016, undergraduate and graduate programming, faculty recruitment and development, and fundraising.
As Dean, Herrmann has placed particular emphasis on expanding opportunities for student-faculty research collaborations (the summer 2017 student-faculty research program has a record 47 pairings, a 135% increase from just last year!), establishing the Center for Undergraduate Research Experiences and providing substantial support for student Capstone experiences, the Dyson Society of Fellows, and Dyson's award-winning Model UN and Federal Reserve Challenge teams.
During Herrmann's term as Dean, Pace Performing Arts grew significantly in size and reputation, Pace was approved to offer its first PhD in Mental Health Counseling on the Pleasantville Campus, and Dyson's full-time faculty grew from 200 to 252. She has also worked closely with Dyson faculty to develop instructional technology and a broader online presence, including a fully online path through the Core Curriculum.
Replacing Herrmann as the Acting Dean of Dyson College will be Senior Associate Dean Richard Schlesinger, PhD, effective July 1, 2017.
Please join us in congratulating Dean Herrmann.
Our Federal Reserve Challenge team has been dominating the competition—and the rest of the country is taking notice!

The holiday season is in full swing, but Pace faculty are still hard at work researching and weighing in on a number of important issues. Grab a coffee and settle in, because this month’s Fit to Print is chock-full of insights.
