As the weather begins to cool down, head indoors to catch the spectacular lineup of events at the Schimmel Theatre. From silent films to upbeat dance, there’s something for everyone!
American Showstoppers: An Evening with Johnny Mercer
Friday, October 9 | 7:30 p.m.
The all-star cast from American Showstoppers will pay tribute to Johnny Mercer, one of the most notable and influential lyricists of 20th century music and theater. Among his hits include “Any Place I Hang My Hat is Home,” “Hooray for Hollywood,” and the Oscar-winning best song, “Moon River.” If one thing is for certain, this will be a night that’ll have you singing in the shower for weeks!
Silent Film: The Freshman
Sunday, October 11 | 2:00 p.m.
No, this wasn’t inspired by that 90s song by the Verve Pipe. But the 1920s silent film is just as alluring! Starring Harold Lloyd, The Freshman is about a college-bound young man who gets caught up in the fads and trends of college life he’s seen in the movies. Tricked into thinking he’s the star of the football team, he gets a heavy dose of reality the night before the big game…
Swango: The Theatrical Dance Experience
Thursday, October 15–Saturday, October 17 | 7:30 p.m.
One of the hottest tickets in town! Swango is a revival of the 2005 off-Broadway hit by Tony Award-winning playwright Rupert Holmes, and is a contemporary twist of fate and romance in the tradition of Romeo and Juliet. A truly electrifying performance you don’t want to miss.
Sons of Serendip
Sunday, October 18 | 7:30 p.m.
When your group is a finalist on America’s Got Talent, it’s pretty certain that your group has got quite a bit of skill. Sons of Serendip is a musical group who, through a series of serendipitous events, came together in graduate school at Boston University and have been winning over the hearts of America with their beautiful music ever since.
