Party and Poetry

News Story

We’ve got some fun-filled events happening at the libraries—a birthday party at Mortola, and a haiku contest at Birnbaum.

April showers means plenty of time to head to the Library and catch up on your reading and schoolwork. Or, participate in the following events:

Mortola Centennial Celebration
Friday, April 14
2:00 p.m.–3:30 p.m.

What would you do if you lived to be 100? Throw a huge centennial bash? This year would have been Dr. Edward Mortola’s 100th birthday, so in honor of the man who helped make Pace what it is today, we’ll be celebrating in style at the building named in his honor.

In remembrance of Mortola’s life and legacy, the event will also include several speakers who knew him (including family members), as well as a special video tribute.

For more information contact Steve Feyl at sfeyl@pace.edu.

Birnbaum Library Haiku Poetry Contest

In celebration of National Poetry Month and National Library Week, Birnbaum Library is accepting original haiku poetry from Pace students through April 30. One lucky winner will receive a $50 prize and have their haiku immortalized in Pace lore, displayed on the wall in the Library.

Do you have what it
takes, to compose the poem
that takes home the gold?

Each haiku should be on a book or library theme, and be in traditional 5-7-5 syllable format. To enter, please send no more than three haiku from your Pace e-mail address to bplanncurley@pace.edu. Happy writing!
