News Story

Summer breaks aren’t just for the students. Pace University faculty and staff are trotting the globe, kicking back at home, and gearing up for the fall.

“I grew up in Tanzania, so was I was ‘going home.’ I was with my husband, who also grew up in Tanzania, and another couple who live there and are childhood friends of my husband’s. We went to three different parts of the Serengeti, and then the Ngoro Ngoro crater.”

“My boyfriend and I did a bit of traveling this summer enjoying the outdoors and visiting close friends. We went to Salt Lake City, Utah, for an awesome wedding at the top of a mountain at the Snowbird Ski Resort. We then traveled to southeast Utah for some hiking at Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. We also saw some close friends in Atlanta, Georgia, where we visited the Georgia Aquarium and the Civil Rights Museum. We also enjoyed tubing down the Chattahoochee River to cope with the hot southern heat.”

Academic Advisor, Lubin School of Business

“I moved to Westchester and left behind my confined but carefree Manhattan living days for quiet, spacious, suburban weekends.  It’s been bliss…except for the commute.”

—Kerry Tucei
Associate Director of Marketing and PR, Cultural Affairs

“This summer I went to Egypt for a wedding. It was a week-long whirlwind celebration. My husband, daughter, and I cruised the Nile as guests of the bride and groom. We visited temples, the Great Pyramids, rode camels, enjoyed a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings, and got henna tattoos. The wedding was held in Giza with the pyramids as a backdrop. Truly amazing. The most surprising thing about the trip was learning how much Egyptians really miss Americans visiting their country. Since the revolution, fewer Americans visit Egypt due to safety concerns. Funny thing is I felt totally safe. Like every place in the world, you just have to be mindful and respectful of customs.”

“This has been a big summer for me! On top of working full-time for Pace as the Assistant Director for Donor Communications and taking MBA classes at Pace at night, I also turned 30 on July 13. My wife and I are also getting ready for the arrival of our first baby girl in September and we can’t wait to meet her!”

—Robert Schurz
Assistant Director for Donor Communications, Development and Alumni Relations

“This summer, I visited two very important houses. The first was Graceland Mansion in Memphis, Tennessee, on a trip with my mom. Graceland is the second most visited house in the US after the White House. The second house put a spell on me. It was Max and Dani's house from my favorite Halloween film, Hocus Pocus, in Salem, Massachusetts.”
