Get ready to explore the Big Apple as SDACA NYC hosts Welcome Week 2017 featuring Broadway shows, ball games, museums, walking tours, festivals, and much more this month!

Monday, September 4

Bed, Bath, and Beyond Dance Party
6:30 p.m. | Meet at Spruce Street and Gold Street
Get those dorm room essentials and bust a move all in one trip. For those interested in making the journey to acquire everything from towels to picture frames, shuttles will be departing from the corner of Spruce and Gold, en route to this dance party/superstore extravaganza.

Tuesday, September 5

Convocation
Pre-Convocation: 10:30 a.m. | Convocation: 12:00 p.m. | Post-Convocation: 1:00 p.m.
The Class of 2021 officially begins their journey at Pace! President Marvin Krislov will give his first address as president of Pace, followed by a keynote address by Pace alumnus Rumit Mehta '03. After the ceremony, grab some lunch and enjoy a celebration on the Hornblower Hybrid Cruise Line. Cruise #1 boards at 2:00 p.m. at Pier 15 and returns at 3:30 p.m. and Cruise #2 boards at 4:00 p.m. and returns at 5:30 p.m. 

Wednesday, September 6

P.A.C.E. Board Fall Fest
11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. | Gym
Pace’s infamous programming board is officially welcoming you to school with their annual shindig. Drop by for some games, chow down on a culinary revelation, head to class for a few hours, and come on back to the party!

Magic and Hypnosis: Ben Seidman
7:00 p.m. | Schimmel Theatre
Las Vegas entertainer Ben Seidman, who has appeared in Penn & Teller: Fool Us, brings his sleight-of-hand and comedy to the Schimmel stage. 

Thursday, September 7

The President's BBQ

Silent Disco
7:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m. | Bianco Room and Courtyard
Can you hear that? Can your friend hear that? Don’t make some noise, but bust out the dance moves for the always memorable quiet clubbing party. A dance floor, some headphones, and the best non-traditional dance party to get you in the groove.

Friday, September 8

29 Rooms

Experience Refinery29’s imaginative spirit IRL through an interactive funhouse of style, culture, and technology, brought to life by a group of global artists and visionaries across mediums, and powered by you. Make your way through each of the 29 individually curated rooms that are packed with magic and brimming with inspiration. Register at www.pace.edu/tickets.

LGBTQA Mixer and Crafting
12:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m. | 41 Park Row, Room 902
Get crafty with Pace's LGBTQA and Social Justice Center and HGTV's Crafty Lumberjacks! 

Movie Night: Wonder Woman
7:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. | Bianco Room 
From warrior to superhero, see the film starring Gal Gadot as the title character Wonder Woman.

STOMP 
7:30 p.m. | Meet at SDACA, 41 Park Row, 8th Floor
Matchboxes, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, and more fill the stage with energizing beats at STOMP, the inventive and invigorating stage show that's dance, music, and theatrical performance blended together in one electrifying rhythm. You must register at www.pace.edu/tickets.

Saturday, September 9

NYC Paces: Brooklyn Bridge Walk

Arguably one of the most important must-dos for New Yorkers, take a Saturday stroll across the Brooklyn Bridge. 

Sunday, September 10

Big Gay Ice Cream Takeover and Stonewall Visit
1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m. | Meet at 41 Park Row, Room 902
Join the LGBTQA and Social Justice Center and the Women's Leadership Initiative for a takeover of Big Gay Ice Cream Shop, one of NYC's most prominent ice cream destinations. With delectable flavors ranging from the Bea Arthur, to the Salty Pimp, to the Mermaid, get this bucket list item checked off within your first week. The first 80 Pace students to show up will get free cones. Then head over to the Stonewall Inn, the spot of the Stonewall Riots and the first pride march in NYC, to snap some photos outside and learn about the history of pride. You must bring your Pace ID to attend, and you will need a MetroCard for the subway.

Meet the Greeks

Thinking about going Greek? Learn all about Pace’s sororities and fraternities, and the advantages to joining some of the most expansive student and alumni networks across the globe.

9/11 Memorial Vigil

A vigil to honor, mourn, and remember the victims of 9/11.

Come From Away
7:00 p.m. | Depart from 41 Park Row, 8th Floor
A remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded passengers and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them. Don’t miss this breathtaking Broadway musical written by Tony® nominees Irene Sankoff (an alumna of the Actors Studio Drama School!) and David Hein. You must register at www.pace.edu/tickets.

Want to take your Pace education across the globe? Get the lowdown on the boundless study abroad opportunities offered at Pace, and begin planning what will likely prove to be an unforgettable semester. 

LGBTQA First Year Mixer
7:00 p.m. | SDACA Lounge, 41 Park Row, 8th Floor
Join the LGBTQA and Social Justice Center for the first year welcome back mixer for LGBTQA+ students. If you are LGBTQA+ or an ally, come by for food, fun, games, and raffle prizes. This is a great opportunity to meet and make new friends on campus.
