Completion Program FAQs

Do I need to go to campus at any time?

No. All classes, including tests and exams, are to be completed entirely online.  You can continue to work at your current job while taking the four classes at home using your computer.

When do classes begin?

Classes begin every January.

Must all classes be taken consecutively or can I start and stop the program as it suits me?

The courses in the program are to be taken consecutively, with completion being approximately

one year from the starting date.  Read more about our academic policies under “Guidebook.”

What type of degree will I receive from the Completion Program?

Students who complete all requirements of the program will receive a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS).

How do I apply for the Completion Program?

You will need to fill out an online application and have all previous transcripts sent to the Office of Graduate Admissions, 1 Martine Avenue – RM 212, White Plains, NY 10606.

When is the application deadline?

The deadline is December 1. Applications received after this date will be considered on a space available basis.

What are the benefits of attaining a Master’s degree?

Obtaining a master’s degree will give students the added flexibility to enter educational, administrative and research fields of study. Additionally, PAEA has issued an official statement on behalf of the PAEA Board of Directors on degrees for physician assistants. The statement adopted by the membership at the 2009 Education Forum endorses the master’s degree as the entry‐level and terminal degree of the profession.

Is the Completion Program accredited?

The  Completion Program is not an entry-level program and is designed for PAs with prior training and national certification.  It is not accredited by the ARC-PA, nor is it required to be, as this type of program is not considered under their purview.  However, the Completion Program was approved by the New York State Education Department and is able to grant a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) degree to its graduates.
