Administrative Staff Council Meeting
Wednesday, March 5, 2008 Butcher Suite,
Elaine Scanlon, Peggy Caraccio, Heather Novak, Christina Blenkle, Donna Schilio, Colette Magnotta, Christine Stephens, Phyllis DiMattia, Mary Ann Petock, Andrea Winters, Marie Werner, Karen Watkis, Marianne Hricay, Shelia Murray, Carol Turco, Barbara Colman, Mary Ellen Humphrey, Karen Desantis, Aisha Moyla, Betsy Garti, and Irina Kats.
Next month’s meeting will be the second Wednesday of April, 4/9/08.
Welcome Faculty Representative, Marie Werner who will represent our interests to faculty and the Board of Trustees
Take Your Child to Work Day will be held Thursday 4/24 from 8-4 PM
The Auction will be held 5/8/08
Christine approved last month’s minutes, Mary Ellen 2nd. Minutes were approved
Treasurer’s Report: No report this week
Benefits Committee – Fran reported that the next meeting will be held 3/10/08 and issues to be discussed include the prescription drug plan, suggestions for a 403(b) plan and the dental plan. Please email Michelle Russo-Ramirez at email@example.com any benefits issues. She cannot do anything about them, unless you tell her in writing that you are experiencing them.
Middle States Representative – Karen reported that the next meeting will be held 3/7/08 Staff interested in knowing more about this group are encouraged to contact Karen at firstname.lastname@example.org
Faculty Council Representative – Karen reported that the next meeting will be held 3/7/08
Picnic Committee –Betsy reported that the date for the picnic was set for Friday 6/27/08. Ideas for themes and an MC are needed. Volunteers are also need for planning and soliciting donations. For more information contact Betsy at email@example.com
Service Committee – Christine announced that Daffodil Days sold 128 orders. Volunteers are needed for setting up the bunches and delivering bunches from 8-10 AM on 3/14/08. Contact Christine for more information at firstname.lastname@example.org.
New Business: Elections are coming up. If you are interested in running, please let us know. The current council members are willing to stay on if we do not have any one running.
Guest Speaker: Stephen Johnson, OSA
The Office of Students has made great strides over the past year, but is still working on improving services
Issues they address include scheduling, financial aid, accounts, registration, transcripts and these are just the visible responsibilities
Issues raised by staff included: increased resources for academic scheduling, difficulties scheduling tutorials or independent study, accessibility to the OSA office by phone, work-study students automatically being flipped to student part-time staff when their awards run out, parents access to financial information and training on basic student OSA information for all staff.
