Westchester Administrative Staff Council Meeting
May 6, 2011
Butcher Suite, Kessel Student Center

The meeting was called to order at 8:45 am by Chair Pat Carolan.

Moment of silence was held for Rob Vallone from ITS who passed away earlier this week.

Announcements:

Monday meet the CIO candidate information has been emailed to the listserv.

Michelle Camardella reminded all of the link to alumni relations information for the reception at the Plaza on June 4, 2011.

Food Service transition – Mary Lieto.  There is an RFP committee for new food service.  Mary Lieto asked for member of WASC to join committee and Christine Stephens volunteered.  These meetings will be fast tracked.  Information will be out on Sharepoint and there will be conference call meetings.  Hope to have decision made by July.  Transition webpage is available at http://www.pace.edu/current-students/dining-services-transition.  Once a new vendor is selected, it is important to note that management teams will change but staffing won’t because they are union workers.

Andrea Winters mentioned that counseling service is available for anyone who might need to come in during walk in hours.

Update on Provost search committee – Pat Carolan.  Committee will resume work in July to seek additional candidates.

 

Elections:  The floor was opened for last minute nominations.

The executive committee has nominated Karen Buckwald for Treasurer, Maureen Doddy for Co-Chair.  Both were voted in.  UPDATE:  Michele Camardella and Dawn Rigney have accepted the nomination to share the Secretary position.

 

Benefits committee: Fran O’Gara.  Information will be out to the community next week.  Open enrollment is coming up very soon.  Your elections for benefits for the upcoming year will begin July 1.

Faculty Council: Karen DeSantis.  Meeting is later today.  Please see Karen’s notes for information.

Picnic Committee: Pat for Anna Fishman.  The Picnic will be Wednesday, June 15th.  We need help the day of the picnic with set up, clean up, etc.  Please contact Anna if you would like to volunteer.

iStrategy tools should be easier to use than banner.  Analysis is easier.  Definitions are set so the search queries will be uniform across the platform.  You won’t have to set up a definition for part time students or first year students which may be different across search queries run by different people in banner.

A task force is working with OSA, Enrollment Management, Dyson, Student Advisors, and many other groups to see what functions will be most used and which are most needed.

At this point Student and Finance sections are active and the Financial Aid section is next on the plan.

Training is required before you can use iStrategy.
