If faculty are posting documents, audio, or video content to Classes or any other site to be utilized as part of our remote learning model, please note that this content must be accessible. Documents must be screen reader accessible and audio/video content must be captioned (or have the capability to be captioned by student’s devices).
If faculty have any questions about how to ensure the accessibility of their online content, they should reach out to Academic Technology (acadtech@pace.edu, (212) 346-1661 (New York City), (914) 773-3664 (Pleasantville)). If there are questions about the appropriateness of these accommodations for a particular student, faculty should contact the Student Accessibility Services Office on their respective campus (New York City: (212) 346-1526, Westchester: (914) 773-3710). Also, please note that if a faculty member has a student who receives extended time for testing and they are taking their exam on Classes, the instructor must change the amount of time for the student’s exam. This cannot be done by the Accommodated Testing Centers.

For Pace employees designated a permanent Work from Home position, it is important to ensure that your home can adequately support emulating a work environment as if you were working on campus.
Your home’s Internet connection is crucial in your ability to Work from Home productively. Internet Service Provider (ISP) plans and speeds vary and shared Internet connections within a family household can limit bandwidth available to you during the workday. Please consult with your ISP to find out the current plan and speed you are paying for (this is commonly found on your monthly bill). Visit the Guide to Home Internet Connections to help determine if you have enough bandwidth to support common tasks (ex. Video Conferencing) done throughout the workday at Pace.
For your convenience, a Work from Home Laptop Bundle is available for purchase by your department found here: Work from Home Laptop Bundle. Included in the bundle is a standardized Pace laptop as well as accessories to maximize productivity and convenience when working from home. A minimum of two (2) electrical outlets within four (4) feet of your work area are required for this setup. The laptop is fully supported by Pace ITS and can be brought on campus for servicing and troubleshooting when onsite support is required.
We recommend that you prepare a defined space within your home for setting up your “home office” where you can safely locate your equipment without having to pack it away at the end of each day. Look for articles on the Internet that suggest ways for creating the ultimate home office, one that makes you crazy productive, and happy too.
A few suggestions:
- Find a place that does not interfere with your home life and does not entice you back to work when you would normally be “at home”.
- Make sure you have natural light and free yourself from that dark corporate cubical. Include a table lamp with a nice soft glow for the darker days/afternoons.
- Personalize your space as you would in the corporate office, adding pictures and greenery with plants.
- Remember to call your coworkers each day to keep up to date with office gossip.

- Utilize the Pace VPN and connect to office computers utilizing Remote Desktop. Do all/most of your work on your remote desktop.
- If you must utilize your personal computer, take care not to store any files containing sensitive information on them. Instead, store files on Pace’s OneDrive for Business service which offers secure file storage linked to your Pace University account.
- If possible, do your university work on a separate computer than the one used by your children, etc.
- Ensure that your home computer has all the latest updates for Windows, Microsoft Office, and any other software that you typically use on a daily basis.
- Ensure that your home computer has antivirus installed and that it is up-to-date with the latest definitions.
- Ensure that your home wireless is secured using a strong password and utilizes WPA2 encryption.
- Be aware that scammers are taking advantage of the situation and question any email that seems remotely suspicious. Contact ISO@pace.edu with questions about suspicious email prior to responding or taking action.
