Welcome to the Film and Screen Studies Department on Pace University’s New York City Campus.
Film and Screen Studies (FSS) provides a unique interdisciplinary education in film and related media. We offer a Bachelor of Arts degree as well as a minor. Our department offers students a strong foundation in film history, critical analysis, and theory alongside the opportunity for hands-on experience in film production and cinematic storytelling techniques and traditions through the use of professional 16 mm film and HD video camera packages, lighting and sound equipment. The major curriculum is enhanced by electives that highlight the multiple possibilities of a film and screen studies education: students are encouraged to emphasize their interests by completing their credits in courses ranging from Latin American Cinema, Screenwriting, The Biology of Science-Fiction Film, and Media and Gender, to Video Production and Digital Imaging.
Film and Screen Studies also provides credits for a variety of internships in the film and media industry, taking advantage of our location in one of the largest media centers in the world, and of Pace University’s tremendously successful Career Services program. Students may pursue internships in film production, film festivals, television, journalism, internet media, or media publicity, gaining professional experience while still completing their degree.
Serving as a major cultural hub of lower Manhattan, Pace University offers Film and Screen Studies students an incredible opportunity to combine their academic experience with the dynamic world of New York City.
