International Relations Summer Program

The International Relations Summer Program at Pace University's English Language Institute is a 2-week course that gives international students the opportunity to improve their English skills and learn about international relations through the exciting Model UN format.

Before arriving in New York City, students complete eight hours of interactive guided study online to prepare them for the program. Once they arrive, students participate in interactive classes each morning that cover the main concepts and skills required for success in International Relations. These sessions include engaging lectures, group discussions, and hands-on activities to help students learn about diplomacy, global issues, and conflict resolution. In the afternoons, students focus on language skills development, with sessions focused on reading comprehension, listening comprehension, speaking fluency, and writing proficiency.

Throughout the program, students have opportunities to practice their skills in a supportive and engaging learning environment. They develop effective research and analysis skills, learn strategies for developing persuasive arguments and negotiating skills, and gain insights into different cultures and perspectives. The program also covers the dynamics of international politics and diplomacy, as well as how to work effectively in a team and build consensus.

One of the highlights of the program is a visit to the United Nations headquarters in New York City, where students see international diplomacy in action and get a firsthand glimpse of the inner workings of the world's most important global organization. Two International Relations themed walking tours in New York City are also included to enhance the learning experience.

Overall, the International Relations Summer Program at Pace University's English Language Institute is an exciting and enriching opportunity for international students to improve their language skills, gain valuable academic experience, and expand their understanding of global issues and diplomacy.
