2020 Kelly Herbert Writing Award

Submit an LGBTQA+ essay for a chance to win $500! Topics may explore queer identity, issues, realities, life, and love. You have until Friday, April 24, to submit. The winner will be recognized at this year’s virtual Lavender Graduation ceremony!
The Pace LGBTQA+ Centers across both campuses are currently seeking creative essays that explore queer identities, issues, realities, life, and love—for the chance to win $500! Each submission must be less than 10 pages in length. All Pace undergraduate students are welcome to apply. An award of $500 will be given to the individual with the strongest essay submission.
Interested? Here’s how to apply:
- >> Submit one essay with a cover sheet to Tasha McCombs via email.
- >> Your cover sheet should include a title, your name, your mailing address, your graduation year, your nine-digit U ID code, your email and phone number, and your major and/or minor.
- >> Please do not include your name on any other page of your submission.
- >> Please do not submit any writing that has previously won an award in the English Department.
That’s it! You have until Friday, April 24, at 11:59 p.m. to apply. The winner will be recognized at the virtual Lavender Graduation ceremony on Friday, May 1, at 4:00 p.m. Good luck!
