Creating a More Sustainable (s)Pace

News Story

There are so many ways to get involved in the sustainability movement here at Pace. Network with other like-minded environmentalists, catch a free documentary film screening, join one of the many student clubs, and so much more. Be the change you want to see!

The formal definition of sustainability is to "[meet] the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." Here at Pace, we have a responsibility to lessen our footprint and negative impact on the environment to the greatest extent feasible. In doing so, we hope to help secure a healthy and productive planet for future generations—and you can get involved right now!

Below are just a few events happening in October 2019, but our work doesn’t stop there. Check out the list of committees, student organizations, and departments offering a ton of opportunities to create a more sustainable space. You can make a difference!

The Last Animals Film Screening
Saturday, October 19 | 4:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m. | Willcox Hall
Kicking off a year-long program, “Wildlife in Focus: Curing the Crisis Through Education and Action,” the Dyson College Institute for Sustainability and the Environment (DCISE) will host a free screening of The Last Animals. It’s a documentary that follows conservationists, scientists and activists battling poachers and criminal networks to protect elephants and rhinos.

They will also be celebrating the official implementation of the Elephant Protection Law, a law authored and lobbied by Dyson College’s Environmental Policy Clinic students.

Internship Opportunities
Tuesday, October 29 | 3:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m. | Environmental Classroom
Representatives from local environmental organizations will be on the PLV Campus to talk to students about open internship opportunities! This is a great chance to meet one-on-one with representatives to hear about their internship opportunities, to ask questions, and to leave your resume. Registration will be open soon.
