Faculty Success Stories: February 2018
From another Fulbright award to celebrating a Nobel Peace Prize, Pace faculty are always on the move. Catch what they've been up to since the holiday break!
Seidenberg Assistant Professor of Information Technology Yegin Genc, PhD, and co-investigators Juan Shan, PhD, and Li-Chiou Chen, PhD, received $188,520 from the National Security Agency to establish a data analytics lab focusing on cybersecurity-related data. The lab will facilitate the collection and analysis of information pertaining to cybersecurity, and help create hands-on learning modules to improve students' understanding of data analytics.
"We are excited to be awarded by NSA with this grant as it confirms the quality of our programs both in data analytics and cybersecurity here at Seidenberg," said Genc. "This grant provides us with the opportunity to produce well-educated cybersecurity professionals who can help protecting the nation from cyberattacks by transforming data to useful information."
Distinguished Professor of Art History Janetta Rebold Benton, PhD, was awarded a Fulbright award. She will be a visiting professor at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, China during spring 2018 teaching graduate students about American Art.
Emily Welty, PhD, assistant professor of women's and gender studies, and Matthew Bolton, PhD, associate professor of political science, received the Humanitarian Award from the Lupe Moe of the Independence Human Relations Commission. The award was in celebration of their work on the Nobel Peace Prize-winning International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons.
