Each year, the Jefferson Awards for Public Service looks for the unsung heroes, the selfless people who make the world a better place through volunteering and community service efforts. Known as the “Nobel Prize for public service,” the awards recognize ordinary people who do extraordinary things without needing recognition. And we know there are a ton of you right here at Pace!

The Center for Community Action and Research is requesting nominations from Pace University students, faculty, and staff for this year’s Jefferson Awards for Public Service. If you or someone you know is making a difference in the community (whether they are doing it inside or outside of Pace), nominate them today. The nomination deadline has been moved this year to the fall semester and nominations are due by October 9! Pace University became a Champion of the Jefferson Awards for Public Service in 2008. Nominations are solicited from the University community and finalists are selected based on their personal, sustained commitment to service, and for the model of spirit and service they provide the University community.

Last year, 12 members of the Pace Community (including eight students) were awarded bronze medals for their commitment to service, and Jefferson Awards Board of Directors selected student Jason Gonzalez to represent the Pace winners at the national Jefferson Awards for Public Service ceremony in Washington, DC.

All members of the Pace University Community are eligible for this prestigious award. Nominate yourself or another student, staff, or faculty member today!
