Know Your Rights (NYC)

Immigration reform is one of the most important issues of our time. On November 12, Pace’s Office of Multicultural Affairs and outside experts will discuss your rights and what you need to know in the current political climate.
Regardless of immigration status, we all have guaranteed rights under the Constitution. How do we express, exercise, and protect those rights in an uncertain political climate? How should we respond if confronted with questions about immigration status by law enforcement? Are you protected as part of the Pace Community? What can we do as bystanders? What is the University’s position on Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)?
Get answers to these questions and many others on Tuesday, November 12, at a special Know Your Rights session hosted by Pace’s Office of Multicultural Affairs and Chief Diversity Officer Tiffany Hamilton. This event, which was organized in part by Dyson Professor Meghana Nayak, PhD; Associate Professor Pamela Fuentes Peralta, PhD; and students Natalie Linero and Anabella Mead-Vancort, will bring experts from the community to meet with members of the Pace Community. Hear from representatives from the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA) and the Catholic Charities Department of Immigration and Refugee Services as they discuss procedural issues, provide information for all members of the Pace Community. The discussion will be moderated by Dyson Associate Professor Stephanie Hsu, PhD.
