New Space at Pace
Upgraded classrooms, collaborative study areas for students, and specialized conference rooms are coming your way this fall.
During the Spring 2021 semester, Pace is embarking on the second phase of the Master Plan which will rebuild floors four, five, and six of One Pace Plaza West into a modern learning environment with high-tech instructional tools conducive to contemporary and future methods of teaching and learning. These new spaces will serve our forward-thinking programs in health care, environmental science, and computer science and information systems.
The renovation, which has already begun and will continue through the summer, will feature:
- >> New classrooms, some of which will be equipped with Zoom technology and white board capture so hybrid pedagogies and remote learning opportunities may be used in the future
- >> Collaborative study areas
- >> Conference rooms that will be equipped with AV technology
View the renderings of what floors four, five, and six will look like when completed for the Fall 2021 semester.
Other notable features of the renovation include sustainable design elements to improve indoor air quality and reduce the use of natural resources. We will also use furniture, carpeting, paint, and other finishes with low or no volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and we will install an ionization system to improve indoor air quality. Where possible, recycled and local materials will be used to minimize greenhouse gas emissions, and during the demolition phase, materials will be recycled whenever possible. The designs will specify energy efficient equipment for heating and cooling, LED lighting, efficient water-saving fixtures, and connections to Pace’s building management system for highest efficiency. These efforts are part of the University’s ongoing commitment to reduce our carbon consumption and minimize our environmental footprint.
We are excited and proud to be entering this new phase of the Master Plan and hope the community is pleased with the upgrades when the community returns to campus for the Fall 2021 semester.
As construction activity increases, the Facilities and Capital Projects team will continue to update the community on the schedule through the Master Plan website. Please contact William Carey, Director of Capital Projects, with comments or concerns.
