Earlier this year, 50 parents, college administrators, varsity coaches and college prep counselors were charged for their participation in a sweeping admissions scandal filled with allegations of bribes, cheating and schemes for admittance into some of the most elite schools in the country.
Parents, including several Hollywood celebrities, were accused of paying college counselor Rick Singer hundreds of thousands of dollars to secure better SAT scores through cheating and feigning their child’s participation in sports by photo-shopping pictures of them sailing, playing water polo and other sports.
“The admissions process does tend to be, it tilts in favor of people who have affluence and connections and understand the college process, but I thought this was very extreme,” said Pace University President Marvin Krislov.
