NY Carib News featured Pace Lubin graduate Renée Trewick in “Removing Glass”
“For the first time in the 175-year history of the Southern Baptist Convention [SBC], one of its historic boards will have an African American woman trustee chair.”
This was the opening statement of an article printed by the Baptist Press on March 4, 2020, titled, “GuideStone elects first African American woman chair.”
This woman is Jamaican born and a member of the Bronx Baptist Church, Renée Trewick. Her historic election is not only evidence of her caliber and character, but it also speaks to the increasing equity within religious communities that has been long overdue.
Renée began her journey in St. Ann, Jamaica, where she was born. Her family later moved to Kingston, Jamaica. There she attended and graduated from Queens High School and the College of Arts, Science, and Technology (CAST).
Shortly thereafter, she relocated to New York to complete her college education at Pace University, where she majored in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and Finance. Upon graduation, she entered the workforce beaming with potential and goals to accomplish.
After 30 years and counting at Marsh USA’s New York City office, she has accomplished much of those goals and currently works as a vice president responsible for risk management.
Her unparalleled dedication to the integrity of her work is only matched by her dedication to God and living a life in service to others.
