Highlighting the theme of ‘First,’ Pace connects students with top employers early in the hiring season

Pace University Career Services on Friday hosted one of its signature events: the Spring 2024 Job and Internship Career Fair. With over 775 students in attendance—including many from Pace’s campus in Lower Manhattan—the fair connected students with more than 115 top employers from a wide range of industries.

Employers included Blythedale Children's Hospital, Deloitte, Heineken, ICON International, KPMG, Mediacom Communications Corporation, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Montefiore, New York Power Authority, NJ TRANSIT, NYC Health + Hospitals, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals among many others.

The fair also introduced new employers like Albany Medical Center, Catholic Charities, Konica Minolta, Phillip Morris International, and the United States Tennis Association, further expanding opportunities for students across various industries.

The continued growth – both in student and employer participation – shows that Pace University is successfully connecting its curriculum with career placement outcomes, noted said Phyllis Mooney, Assistant Vice President of Career Services and Employer Relations at Pace University.

“At Pace University, we prioritize early student engagement and meaningful employer partnerships early-on in the college process,” said Mooney, “and we’re gratified to see that we are able to create impactful opportunities that lead to successful internships and jobs after graduation.”

Pace’s Career Services is a leader in the region for providing a range of career counseling and programming to ensure students are career-ready and equipped with the skills employers seek in candidates. The Class of 2023 First Destination Survey found that 94% of Pace’s bachelor’s degree graduates were employed or continuing their education within six months of graduation.

The theme of this year’s fair was “First”—representing its timing in the first week of February, Pace’s distinction as one of the first universities to host a fair this spring, and the goal of ensuring Pace students were among the first to land sought-after jobs and internships. The fair was open to students across all majors, featuring free smoothies from the University’s student-run businesses, a grab-and-go hot lunch, and music WPAW DJ, creating an engaging and dynamic networking environment.

Melissa Labossiere ’23, a nursing major, recently shared her success story with Career Services about how the Pace Career Fair helped her secure a job before graduation.

"It was amazing to get a job so quickly just from handing out my resume at the Pace Career Fair while I was still a nursing student,” said Labossiere. "I graduated in December 2023 and was working as an RN by February 2024. I interviewed and secured the position before even taking my licensure exam. I applied for a limited permit and received it, but I ended up passing my NCLEX just days before my job started anyway. Pace prepared me very well."

Pace’s Career Services also offers their employer partners a tailored, successful recruiting experience that introduces recruiters to talented students that represent the very best of Westchester, the New York City region, and the world—resulting in extraordinary outcomes. Top brands that employ Pace students include Amazon, Deutsche Bank, IBM, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Mac Cosmetics, Meta, Microsoft, Montefiore, PepsiCo, Pfizer and Warner Brothers Discovery.

"I got my internship by attending the Fall Career Fair," said Arianna Gonzalez, a junior Human Resources Management major and substitute clerical worker at White Plains City School District. "It’s been an amazing experience to explore different areas of human resources. I’m especially interested in opportunities in education or healthcare."

"The Career Fair opens doors for students, whether they’re looking for internships, full-time jobs, or ways to give back," said Daniel Zabbia, a senior Finance major and lacrosse player who recently secured a full-time position at DWS Group. "Even after landing a job, I attended the fair to connect with charity organizations and explore meaningful volunteer opportunities."
