Professor and Judge Margaret M. deGuzman delivered the 2024 Blaine Sloan Lecture on International Law on Wednesday, March 20, speaking on "The Promise and Perils of International Criminal Law.” The Blaine Sloan Lecture on International Law honors F. Blaine Sloan for developing the international law studies program at Pace. The Honorable Margaret M. deGuzman is James E. Beasley Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Institute for International Law and Public Policy at Temple Law School. She is also a judge of the Residual Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals, where she currently serves on the Trial Chamber for The Prosecutor v. Félicien Kabuga.

The Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University honored three distinguished leaders of the legal community, as well as outstanding alumni, during its 29^th Annual Law Leadership Dinner, held at the Westchester Country Club on March 14, 2024. More than 240 alumni, faculty, students, elected officials and members of the judiciary, and distinguished lawyers attended the celebration, raising vital funds in support of student scholarships, faculty research, and innovative programs.

Pace University recently signed an Education Partnership Agreement (EPA) with the National Security Agency in an effort to develop a pipeline of science and technology talent for possible national security challenges.

The Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University hosted an advanced screening of a new documentary, “How to Sue the Klan,” attended by a packed auditorium of students, faculty, staff and members of the community. The film, inspired by a groundbreaking civil case in 1980 led by Professor Randolph McLaughlin, along with Adjunct Professor Betty Lewis, tells the story of five black women shot in Chattanooga, Tennessee by Ku Klux Klansmen.

The Jeffrey G. Miller National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition (NELMCC), one of the nation’s largest interschool moot court competitions, returned in person for the first time in four years, bringing together hundreds of law students and attorney judges to the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University’s Westchester campus.

Elisabeth Haub School of Law Dean Horace E. Anderson Jr. was honored at Westchester County’s annual 2024 Trailblazers Awards Ceremony last week for his professional accomplishments and community efforts. “Trailblazers: Preserving our Legacy” was hosted live at the Gateway Center at SUNY Westchester Community College, as part of the County’s Black History Month celebration.

The Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University is pleased to announce that Hon. James L. Hyer has joined its Board of Visitors. Judge Hyer is an elected New York State Supreme Court Justice in the Ninth Judicial District and a distinguished Haub Law alumnus from the class of 2005.

Pace University was recently awarded $350,000 from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) to advance experiential learning in humanities courses in partnership with cultural and service organizations in New York City. As a result, Pace University will serve as a central hub for humanities while showcasing its leadership in experiential education.
