Isaac Mamaysky

Biography

In addition to his teaching, Adjunct Professor Isaac Mamaysky is a Partner in Potomac Law Group, where he provides corporate, compliance, and employment law counsel to management teams and in-house attorneys across industries. His clients include financial services providers, large corporations, registered investment advisers, educational institutions, and closely held businesses.

Professor Mamaysky leads complex negotiations, drafts commercial contracts, conducts internal investigations, advises on ethics and compliance programs, and provides employment counsel. Professor Mamaysky has particular experience with the Investment Advisers Act and its state law analogs. He also regularly advises public accommodations on their obligations under the federal and state civil rights laws.

Beyond his practice, Professor Mamaysky has extensive industry experience and holds a Series 65 license. He is the cofounder and chief compliance officer of a New York registered investment adviser, which gives him unique insight when providing counsel to other investment advisers. Relying on this experience, Professor Mamaysky founded Potomac Law Group's Investment Advisers, Asset Managers, and Private Funds practice.

At the Elisabeth Haub School of Law, Professor Mamaysky teaches Corporations and Partnerships, and Employment Law. He authored the book Letter to a One L Friend (Carolina Academic Press), which helps students navigate the challenges of law school.

In addition, Professor Mamaysky has published numerous articles concerning corporate, investment adviser, and employment law matters, including in the: Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance; the Fordham Journal of Corporate and Financial Law; the UC Davis Business Law Journal; the Santa Clara Law Review; the Duke Law Journal Online; the Washburn Law Journal; and many other publications.
