Biography
Dr. Hofmann has several years of clinical experience as a physician assistant in family practice and pediatric psychopharmacology. She also served as a clinical pharmacology consultant for several years.
In 2021 she received her doctorate in medical sciences from the University of Lynchburg. Her doctorate focused on PA education, program assessment, and maintenance of accreditation. Dr. Hofmann has more than 20 years of experience in PA education at multiple PA programs, and she is currently director of didactic education at Pace University’s NYC Physician Assistant Program. She is the course director and primary instructor for didactic medical pharmacology courses. Additionally, Dr. Hofmann is an adjunct professor at Touro University’s Physician Assistant Program in New York. She also developed a post-professional pharmacology course for practicing PAs pursuing their master’s degrees. She has successfully completed four accreditation site visits in her capacity as PA faculty and director of didactic education, most recently in June 2023.
Dr. Hofmann has several scholarly publications, conference presentations, and internal and external grants. She is in the final stage of her publication “Mind Maps in Medical Pharmacology” with Elsevier. She received Innovative Teaching Grants, the Dean’s Award for Teaching, the Provost Book and Performance Completion Award, and the Open Education Research Grant. Dr. Hofmann also secured a five-year HRSA grant to increase the number of physician assistant students who plan to practice in primary care medicine upon graduation.
Dr. Hofmann’s interests are student remediation, program assessment, online education, teaching and learning tools to reinforce pharmacology, and mentoring new faculty members. One of her new projects is to evaluate the effectiveness of pre-matriculation basic science preparation courses on student performance.
