Jessica Steinberg Albin

Biography

Adjunct Professor Jessica Steinberg Albin teaches the New York Environmental Externship class. She is currently Senior Counsel at the NYC Department of Sanitation. Before that, Prof. Steinberg Albin was Senior Counsel at the NYC Council, where she was counsel to the Committee on Sanitation and Solid Waste Management, Committee on Resiliency and Waterfronts, and Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. She also worked at Haub Law as the Assistant Director of Environmental Law Programs, at the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Region 2 as an Assistant Attorney, and was an associate at Sive, Paget & Riesel, P.C.

Prof. Steinberg Albin graduated cum laude from Haub Law in 2007. While there, she earned a Certificate in Environmental Law and completed a joint degree with Bard College, where she earned a Master of Science in Environmental Policy. She served as a Case Note/Comment Editor of the Pace Law Review, interned for the Land Use Law Center, helped chair the National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition, and spent a summer at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, DC. Prior to law school, she taught middle school science and Latin in Miami, FL. Prof. Steinberg Albin graduated with a BA from the College of William and Mary.

Prof. Steinberg Albin was a member of the New York City Bar Environmental Law Committee from 2012 until 2015, and she was in the 2008 class of the New York City Environmental Law Leadership Institute. She is a director on the Theodore Gordon Flyfishers Board.
