Biography

Adjunct Professor Margaret Palmer Saalfield is a Senior Staff Attorney in the Group Representation Unit of Brooklyn Legal Services Corporation A's Preserving Affordable Housing Program. In this role, she brings affirmative litigation, on behalf of tenant associations, to enforce federal, state, and local housing laws. Prior to this, Prof. Palmer Saalfield worked at the New York City Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings and the Federal Mine Safety and Health Review Commission, an independent federal agency that adjudicates health and safety disputes arising in the nation’s mines. Before beginning her legal career, Prof. Palmer Saalfield worked in international development at the Eurasia Foundation and as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine. She is a member of the Environmental Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association and an alumna of the New York City Environmental Law Leadership Institute. She is interested in the intersection of housing, health, and environmental justice.
