Biography

Adjunct Professor Terence McLaughlin (Terry) is the Associate General Counsel at Canary Medical, a startup Company in the medical device and medical data industry. From 2012 through December 2021, Prof. McLaughlin was a Partner in the Business Litigation Department at Morrison Cohen LLP, which has offices in New York City. He has more than 20 years of hands-on commercial litigation experience representing financial and professional institutions, hedge funds, corporations, senior business executives, lenders, borrowers and other business parties in a wide variety of complex commercial litigation matters. Prof. McLaughlin’s broad commercial litigation experience encompasses derivative and direct litigation on behalf of private equity sponsors and other corporate clients; inter-creditor and/or financing disputes; ownership and management disputes, particularly within small or closely held companies; real estate-related disputes; defense of corporate officers, directors and/or other fiduciaries in disputes implicating their duties and conduct; and all manner of contractual disputes as to complex commercial transactions in state and federal courts. Prof. McLaughlin joined Morrison Cohen LLP in 2012. Prior to that, he was a Partner in the Litigation Department at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, where he began his career over 20 years ago.
