Accelerate Your Career with a Blend of Biology and Liberal Arts
Pace University’s Bachelor of Arts in Biology is designed for students interested in a scientific career that does not require physics or calculus, as well as those looking to double major in another field. With a broader liberal arts foundation and the option to take more electives outside the sciences, this program offers the flexibility to align your coursework with your broader career aspirations.
Unlike the bachelor of science in biology, the BA in biology requires fewer specialized science courses, giving you the opportunity to pursue additional majors or minors. You’ll enjoy the same access to cutting-edge laboratories, including a state-of-the-art DNA sequencing lab and the Haskins Laboratory, an internationally recognized research center specializing in parasitic diseases.
Located in New York, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with local organizations offering internships and research opportunities. Get involved with student organizations like Beta Beta Beta, the national biology honor society, and build connections with fellow researchers, successful alumni, and industry leaders. With faculty mentorship and a strong professional network, you’ll be prepared for careers in education, environmental law, public health, science communication, and beyond.
Curriculum
Our coursework is designed for you to gain a well-rounded education, and is ideal for students seeking r further education in graduate programs or a career that may involve significant background in the biological sciences (e.g., working as a laboratory technician in medical, university, or government settings, as well as science journalism and certain legal areas such environmental and patent law).
The degree does not require the extensive scientific coursework of the BS degree and students can take more liberal arts courses and easily double major or get one or more minors. To convert to a B.S. degree, only 2–3 additional science courses would be required.
