What Is Individual Counseling?
Counseling is a process that helps people work out personal, academic, or vocational problems. At the Counseling Center at Pace University we are available to assist students, staff, and faculty in the resolution of these problems. Through this process, people often gain increased awareness, independence, and effectiveness in the pursuit of personal goals.
Why Do People Seek Counseling?
Most students seek counseling when their usual ways of handling problems are not working effectively in a particular situation. Some of the most common reasons students seek counseling include, but are not limited to:
- Academic stressors
- Adjustment to changes and transitions
- Alcohol and other drug use
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Family
- Relationships
- Study skills
- Test anxiety
