Your Society: Getting Up Close
Our department and its curriculum empower you to take action knowing more about the human condition and the dynamics of social and cultural change. As a student in our program, you will receive a comprehensive and comparative view of people in cultures and societies around the world. You will conduct fieldwork in the diverse neighborhoods of New York City’s five boroughs, learning hands-on how to conduct anthropological and sociological research, and how to create presentations and research reports using empirical data you’ve collected yourself.

Unique Opportunities
We provide individualized attention to all of our majors, offering advice and mentoring for internship placements, independent research projects, scholarship and fellowship opportunities and career opportunities specific to anthropologists and sociologists.
As a Sociology/Anthropology student, you will work closely both with on-site and faculty supervisors to create an academic component to internship work; faculty will also help you to contextualize and theorize the outcomes of your internship placement.
Undergraduate
With our BA in Sociology/Anthropology, you’ll gain a comparative and comprehensive view of society.
