Erasmus+ is the European Union's program established in 1987 to support education, training, youth, and sport in Europe. While traditionally Erasmus+ allows European students to study abroad within Europe, at Pace University we participate in both KA 131 and KA 171 each offering unique opportunities for international collaboration and mobility.
-
KA131 focuses on mobility within Erasmus Program Countries, which include EU member states as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Serbia, and Turkey. This action supports student, and staff exchanges between European institutions, enhancing cooperation and fostering blended learning opportunities. It is designed to strengthen ties within Europe by promoting academic collaboration and cultural exchange.
-
KA171 expands the scope of Erasmus+ beyond Europe by including Partner Countries from around the world. This action promotes internationalization by enabling mobility between European institutions and universities in non-European countries. It aims to modernize higher education globally while providing students and staff with opportunities to engage in cross-cultural learning experiences.
-
The primary distinction lies in their geographical focus. KA131 is limited to mobility within European Program Countries, whereas KA171 facilitates collaboration between European institutions and Partner Countries outside Europe. Additionally, KA171 emphasizes global outreach and international partnerships, while KA131 strengthens regional ties within Europe.
