Will you proofread my paper for me?
No, but we can proofread your paper with you and teach you strategies to become a better reader and editor of your own writing. We can also talk about your goals and make suggestions for achieving them. Making changes to your writing is your decision.

Do I need an appointment for tutoring?
No, the Learning Commons is mainly a drop-in service. Appointments can be made using Trac Cloud but are not required.

Does the service cost me anything?
No! The service is free of charge and open to all currently enrolled Pace University students.

Is the time limit for a tutoring session?
No, but to ensure maximum success, we suggest sessions no longer than 90 minutes.

What is Trac Cloud and why should I use it?
Trac Cloud is our scheduling system that provides you with information about which tutors are on duty. You can use it to check tutor availability, view your previous sessions, view your course schedule, and to make appointments. View more information on how to use Trac Cloud. If you have difficulty, please stop by or email us. Appointments are not required and we are happy to help.

Will there always be tutors available for my particular course?
For Writing, tutors are trained to support all courses at all levels. For Content Tutoring, please use Trac Cloud to view the schedule of content tutors. You can view the schedule by following the instructions for making an appointment.

Are all tutoring sessions one-to-one?
The availability of one-to-one tutoring depends upon how many other students need tutoring during the same time period. It is possible that there will be other students that will also need help.

What should I have for any session with the Learning Commons (virtual or in-person)?
Spend a bit of time preparing for a tutoring session so you are ready to tell the tutor what you hope to accomplish during the session. It is important that you have all the content from your class, including homework, notes, classwork, textbooks, and other course materials at hand at the start of your session. For Writing Support, you don’t need a draft but make sure to bring the assignment sheet so we can help you get started. You should be ready to discuss your questions and goals with the tutor at the start of your session.

Can I or my professors see my tutoring visits?
Yes. All students can access their own visits log through Trac Cloud. Instructors who request weekly reports can view visits for their courses. Instructors can request weekly reports.

What subjects do you support?
You can get writing support for all courses. For content tutoring, we support many subjects; including accounting, biology, chemistry, computer science, economics, finance, and mathematics. Note: we do not support every course within these subjects. Please visit Trac Cloud to determine if we support your course. Follow the instructions for making an appointment, and you will be shown the hour when tutors are available for your course.

Do you have textbooks available?
Yes, we have textbooks for many, but not all, classes for use while in the Learning Commons.
