Information For New Incoming Students
The purpose of placement assessment is to ensure that you enroll in coursework for which you are prepared. Pace uses several factors, including Advanced Placement (AP) credit, transfer credit, final high school transcripts, and placement assessments administered prior to Orientation, to make sure you take the appropriate classes.

Mathematics
New First-Year Students
Incoming first-year students will take the mathematics placement assessment to determine the appropriate mathematics course to take in their first semester. Questions range from word problems to trigonometry and pre-calculus. Students may use calculators.
Even if you have pending AP credit or college transfer credits, please take the test. Mathematics placement will be reevaluated upon receipt of official AP scores or appropriate college transcripts.
Online Mathematics Placement Assessment
The test will take, at most, an hour. It can take less time if your level is determined quickly by the test. Note that you can't go backward to previous questions on this test. You will be allowed to use a calculator, paper, pencil or pen. Make sure to take the test in a distraction-free environment. No other aids are allowed.
