The Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University has conferred the 2022 Elisabeth Haub Award for Environmental Law and Diplomacy on Professor Paulo de Bessa Antunes, an environmental scholar and leading professor of environmental law at Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, and head of the Environmental Practice of Campos Mello Advogados (Brazil).

Professor Noa Ben-Asher delivered the James D. Hopkins Professor of Law lecture on Wednesday, October 26, on "Gender Identity, the New Legal Sex." Dean Horace Anderson appointed Professor Ben-Asher as the James D. Hopkins Professor of Law for the 2021-2023 term. During the holder's term, the James D. Hopkins Professor delivers a lecture that is open to the entire law school community and members of the public.

Pace University on Monday, October 24 will kick-off Social Justice Week across its three campuses – in lower Manhattan, Pleasantville and White Plains – featuring events that adhere to values of equity and justice while engaging the campus community in learning activities and dialogue centered on the issues of social justice.

In its third year, Social Justice Week runs from October 24 through October 29 and serves as a way of honoring the life of Danroy “DJ” Henry, a Pace student and member of the football team who was shot and killed by a police officer on October 10, 2010. Social Justice Week is held to coincide with DJ’s birthday (October 29) and explores the connections between his story and much broader themes of social injustice in this country.

Professor Jonathan Brown has been named the recipient of the 2022 Ottinger Award for Faculty Achievement. The Richard Ottinger Faculty Achievement Award is awarded annually by the Faculty Development Committee, in consultation with the Dean, in recognition of a full-time professor’s outstanding service to the law school, the legal profession, or both. The award generally is based on the faculty member’s outstanding service during the previous academic year.

Pace University Distinguished Professor Bennett L. Gershman was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the New York Law Journal’s 2022 New York Legal Awards on Thursday, October 6. The New York Legal Awards honor attorneys who have made an impact on the legal community and the practice of law over an entire career. Professor Gershman is one of 10 distinguished honorees to receive the 2022 Lifetime Achievement accolade in recognition of his decades of service in the field of law and his record of extensive, extraordinary research, scholarship and teaching.

Pace University on Monday unveiled its first dedicated gaming arena in celebration of the Athletic Department’s newest and 15th varsity sport – Esports. The announcement comes as Pace University’s Esports program enters its second official season after a successful inaugural year in spring 2022. There are more than 500 members across both campuses that are a part of Pace’s gaming community, including players on its Varsity, Academy, Club and Intramural teams. The arena was made possible with support from Burt and Hedda Hurvich.
