Mold Young Minds in Diverse Settings and Multiple Languages
Pace University’s Master of Science for Teachers (MST) in Childhood and Bilingual Education equips you with the theories, strategies, and methods to teach diverse learners in bilingual settings. Through inclusive practices, fieldwork, and differentiated instruction, you’ll develop the skills to support ELLs and excel in dual language or bilingual programs.
Our program integrates technology and innovative teaching strategies to prepare you for success in New York City’s diverse schools and beyond. With strong partnerships in Westchester and NYC, Pace’s School of Education boasts a high placement rate for graduates certified in TESOL and bilingual education—with many students securing teaching positions before graduation.
For added flexibility, your fieldwork and practicum can take place in partner school settings. Plus, as one of the few education schools in the region to offer faculty-led international courses, Pace provides the unique opportunity to substitute bilingual courses or core requirements with hands-on learning opportunities in Italy and Ecuador (with approval).

Curriculum
Every candidate enrolled in our 48-credit program is challenged to reflect on their prior notions about schools, classrooms, teaching, and learning. Learn about the theories, strategies, and methods for teaching in a bilingual setting, apply sociolinguistic knowledge contexts and language development to instruction and experience a range of fieldwork experiences under the guidance of supervisors, faculty and mentor-teachers.
You’ll complete 100 hours of fieldwork that follows a clinically rich model, integrated with intensive coursework, in collaboration with partner schools. Student teaching will be completed in childhood classrooms, as well as practicum experience in bilingual education. Study abroad courses can be substituted for bilingual courses or core requirements with approval.
