All candidates for the NYS Initial certificate are required to complete the following workshops for program completion (graduation) and NYS certification. Candidates who seek Professional certification must complete the DASA workshop if they have not done so for the Initial certificate.
Proof of completed workshops is required for graduation.
DASA Training Information (TCH 211D/EDG 511D)
Individuals must complete the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) training workshop for educator certification in New York State. The training addresses harassment, bullying, and discrimination prevention and intervention in schools. Please note: A Pace recommendation in TEACH includes all required workshops, regardless of whether or not the workshops appear in the "Workshop" category.
Took the DASA elsewhere?
- Individuals who have not completed the DASA training through Pace must have the approved provider send the workshop completion to TEACH. If the provider is unable to send completion information to TEACH, the training is NOT acceptable. Please send a screenshot of your TEACH account (workshop section) notifying your Pace advisor that the DASA was completed elsewhere.
Child Abuse Identification & School Violence Prevention Workshops (Pace TCH 211A/EDG 511A covers both)
This training is available only from a provider approved by the New York State Education Department. A list of approved providers is available on the NYSED website. If you received a college recommendation (or will) from a New York State college or university with a degree date of May 2001 or later, NO Certification of Completion will be awarded because the training was a required component of your program. TEACH will automatically credit the workshops (will NOT be listed on TEACH) based on the degree date listed in your college recommendation. However, TCH 211A/EDG 511A must be listed on your Pace transcript with a P grade. The Child Abuse Identification & School Violence Prevention Workshops MUST be listed on TEACH ONLY if you did not take TCH 211A/EDG 511A here at Pace.
Child Abuse/Violence Prevention Workshops not listed on your TEACH account?
- Individuals who have not completed the training through Pace (TCH 211A/EDG 511A) must have the approved provider send the workshop completion to TEACH. If the provider is unable to send completion information to TEACH, the training is NOT acceptable. Please send a screenshot of your TEACH account (workshop section), notifying your Pace advisor that they were completed elsewhere.
Have (or will) receive a College Recommendation AND passed TCH 211A/EDG 511A here at Pace?
Child Abuse Identification & School Violence Prevention Workshops WILL NOT be listed on TEACH. This is normal.
Coursework or Training in the Needs of Children with Autism
Autism training is embedded in your coursework at Pace. A separate workshop is not required.
New York City Teaching Fellows Pre-Service Workshop Training
If you took the workshops as part of the pre-service training with the DOE, only the DOE can add them to TEACH. The contact info for the DOE is (718) 935-4000 or sign on to the MyNYCTF page > select the Learning Management System tab > print the required course certificates.
Non-Pace Workshop Providers
If you didn’t complete the above workshops here at Pace, they MUST be listed in TEACH. A copy/screenshot(workshop section on TEACH) must be sent to your advisor for proof of completion elsewhere. If the provider is unable to send completion information to TEACH, the training is NOT acceptable.
