Carpool Matching and Commute Options

Welcome to Pace University’s Rideshare Program!

Pace University has proudly partnered with the New York State Department of Transportation’s 511NY Rideshare program to enhance sustainable commuting options for our students. This collaboration aims to promote carpooling and other alternative transportation methods, making it easier for students to connect with peers who share similar commutes. By leveraging the resources and tools provided by 511NY, such as ride-matching services and information on public transit, Pace students can reduce their travel costs, alleviate traffic congestion, and contribute to a healthier environment. This initiative not only fosters a sense of community among students but also aligns with the university’s commitment to sustainability and responsible living.

Why Commute Sustainably?

Carpooling and sustainable commuting can significantly benefit students at Pace University by promoting a more efficient and eco-friendly way to travel to campus. By participating in carpool programs, students can save money on fuel and reduce wear and tear on their vehicles, while also minimizing their carbon footprint. It is also free! You will instantly see contact information for people who are looking to share rides from your neighborhood!

Participation in the rideshare program is voluntary, and users are encouraged to exercise their own judgment and discretion when utilizing these services. Pace University is not responsible for any issues arising from rideshare arrangements or transportation choices made by individuals.

Student Testimonials

Junior Jason Gonzalez, and Sussy Vizuet carpool to campus together every day. They have been riding to campus together since their freshmen year! They stated that they started carpooling since they “live close to each other and are from the same hometown”.

The biggest benefit of carpooling, according to Sussy and Jason, is the “amount of money they save and always having someone to talk to on the ride over to campus!”.

Junior Natasha Depaoli and Yamilet Ulerio have been commuting together since their freshmen year at pace. Natasha and Yamilet live close to each other, making it easy for them to commute to campus together. Plus, one of them can’t drive so “it’s easier to get to campus this way.”

Some of the main benefits to carpooling is the fact that they “save money on gas, are not alone on the car ride, and it’s convenient!” They also love that they have someone to talk to during a lengthy commute, especially when stuck in traffic!
