Pace’s unique accelerated bachelor’s of science in nursing program offered by the College of Health Professions is a three-semester, 50-credit program, that provides a specifically designed accelerated curriculum for non-nurse college graduates (U.S. bachelor’s degree or its equivalent) who wish to study nursing in a first professional degree program. Pace’s Lienhard School of Nursing has long been a leader in second-degree education for non-nursing college graduates and has offered an accelerated nursing program for 40 years.

The ability to complete this degree in 11 months, combined with the fact that our graduates boast NCLEX-RN pass rates well above state and national averages, mean that a career change into the growing and rewarding field of nursing is well within your grasp. We’ll help you get there.

Curriculum

Our well-rounded curriculum has been extensively honed and developed over several decades. Courses include Fundamentals of Nursing Practice, which introduces you to the fundamental principles related to cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains; Clinical Management in Adult Medical Surgical Nursing, in which the clinical experience in acute and chronic care in a variety of settings provides the opportunity for skill development, clinical reasoning, and patient management; and Organizational and Systems Leadership in Nursing that introduces you to the theory, concepts and practice of leadership in nursing.

A Degree with Real-Life Learning

Over the course of attendance in the program, you will complete over 500 hours of clinical experiences in areas including behavioral health, maternal and women’s health, pediatrics, acute, and chronic and critical care. In the final semester, you will complete a capstone experience in a one-to-one preceptorship with a working nurse. This final preceptorship may occur in one of many specialties, including emergency department, ICU, oncology, operating room, NICU, and many more.

    • A personal statement explaining to the Graduate Admission Committee why you would like to pursue the program of graduate study you have chosen. Additional information regarding your academic performance, as well as professional experience, may also be included in the supplement.
    • A resume or outline describing at least the past five years of your employment history and any significant community, professional, or college extracurricular activities.
    • Applicants need 2 letters of recommendation. Letters should be from academic or professional references that can knowledgeably comment on your ability to successfully complete graduate study. Include recognitions and achievements (e.g. licenses, publications, and awards).
    • All Official Transcripts: Transcripts from every accredited college or university attended (not just the degree granting institution) must be sent either to Pace University, directly from the academic institution electronically or by mail, or forwarded by the applicant in sealed envelopes from the academic institution.
