Community-Engaged Research

Rigorous academic instruction integrated with high-impact, faculty-led, community-based research and engagement is a hallmark of our MPA program. Our students gain valuable learning experiences through work with our dedicated faculty who have extensive research backgrounds and are recognized experts in their fields.

Study Abroad Course

The International Study Abroad course to Oxford, United Kingdom provides our MPA candidates the opportunity to build practical and cultural knowledge while conducting comparative coursework in health care, government, and nonprofit management for 10 days in July.

MPA Internship Course

Through the 3-credit internship course (PAA 695), students gain hands-on experience in public sector management or policy, applying practical skills in analysis, planning, and diagnosis. Students work with professionals in the field, develop job search strategies, and build networks. The internship lasts one semester, with opportunities to extend, and students complete a research project for the host facility, often using insights for their Capstone projects.
