Publishing: Become the Author of Your Own Story

Develop your Writing Skills and Discover the Publishing Industry

Students will have a unique and immersive opportunity to experience the New York City publishing industry in this hands-on, experiential program.

Students will work with publishing industry experts to develop their fiction or nonfiction personal writing samples into edited, revised, and polished pieces they can use for college applications and beyond, giving them a robust portfolio of creative work upon completion of this course.

In this comprehensive and experiential two-week course, students will learn from industry experts on subjects such as book banning, AI, and how to write marketing and sales copy as they create their portfolio. We will cover topics such as how books and magazine media are edited and published, giving students interested in writing, reading, and editing a hands-on opportunity to develop those skills. Students will put their learning into immediate action as we visit a chain bookstore, an independent bookstore, and spend time at one of New York’s well-known publishing houses.
