Pace University's Lienhard School of Nursing alumna Sarah Gruhn was hired by Greenwich Hospital before senior graduation. As a hardworking and dedicated student with a passion for science, Sarah always knew she wanted an occupation that would help others. Sarah decided to pursue nursing after being diagnosed with Lymes Disease and was sick for almost five years. The time she spent around nurses who impacted her recovery and brought her comfort solidified the fact that nursing was the career for her. Sarah was inspired by the opportunities that nurses have to engage and connect with patients while they overcome their struggles.
Pace University’s Lienhard School of Nursing student, Celeste Fetter, will be running the Boston Marathon on April 18, 2022, as part of the Brigham and Women's Stepping Strong Team. As a senior nursing student, aspiring trauma nurse, and New Englander, Celeste was inspired to take on the challenge of running this marathon in support of Gillian Reny, who was one of the 39 critically injured patients during the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing.

Rhonda Maneval is Professor Senior Associate Dean, College of Health Professions and the Lienhard School of Nursing at Pace University. She cited a 2020 report issued by the New York State Department of Health, which states that by 2030 there is a projected shortage of more than 39,000 registered nurses in the state.
Responding to market demands in the surging health and technology space, Pace University is adding a dynamic new master's degree to help advance careers while meeting the growing needs of the healthcare sector.
On September 1, 2021 the American Nurses' Association called for the Department of Health and Human Services to declare a national nurse staffing crisis. Nurses provide 90% of all care to patients in hospitals. Images from the pandemic brought the work of nurses into the spotlight – nurses were rightly deemed heroes – and in fact, they and other healthcare providers worked at great risk to their own health and that of their families.
“Improving outcomes for patients and reducing healthcare costs increasingly depend on employees who understand the interface of healthcare and data analytics, information technology and evidence-based clinical improvements,” said Marcus Tye, dean of the College of Health Professions. “Pace’s online MSHI, as a joint program of the College of Health Professions and the Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Studies, uniquely addresses this need with shared expertise in health professions and computer science.”
In an interview with MDLinx, Christen Cooper, EdN, RDN, Coordinator MS, Founding Director in Nutrition and Dietetics, College of Health Professions, Pace University, Pleasantville, New York, said, “Many herbs show promise for preventing and fighting diseases. This is why registered dietitians encourage people to replace excessive sugar and salt with fresh herbs when trying to boost the flavor in dishes.”
