Thank you for your willingness to serve as a preceptor for Pace University’s Coordinated MS in Nutrition and Dietetics Program. By sharing your time and expertise, you are helping to prepare the next generation of professionals and your future colleagues in dietetics practice.
In order to support you in your precepting mission, please review our Preceptor Handbook which is full of helpful information about the program, ACEND accreditation standards, required competencies that the students must demonstrate, expectations and responsibilities of both students and preceptors, and much more.
In addition, a committee from Nutrition and Dietetics Educators and Preceptors (NDEP) has recently developed a Preceptor Resource Tool Kit as a resource for preceptors and educators to solve problems that may arise during their supervision or education of dietetic students/interns. The toolkit provides resources and frameworks for problem solving that can be applied to any situation with students/interns and even colleagues. These frameworks can be used to solve some key issues such as cultural humility and awareness, professionalism, and communication across different generations at work. All preceptors are encouraged to review this tool kit and to keep it as a reference guide should any challenging situations arise.
